Alice G Patterson Photography {blog} bio picture

alice {girl vs. grown up}

By now, you have most likely concluded that I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer.  Here is what you probably don't know:

In addition to (or maybe instead of) my photographer persona, most of my neighbors recognize me as the lady being pulled around town by my three dogs (or as I like to call them "the girls").  Ironically, I still think of myself as a girl, but really I'm a grown woman.

In addition to being creative, running my business has lots of grown up responsibilities that I happily greet on a daily basis.  When I have a shoot, I arrive early, with back up equipment, a second photographer, and over fifteen years of experience.  But the minute I start taking pictures, I suddenly personify my absolute favorite part of the job... I become a girl with a camera.

The girl in me remains enthusiastic, creative, warm, and ever enchanted with sharing photographs.  The grown up is experienced, professional, and reliable.  So over the many years of being self-employed, I've learned that the whole girl vs. grown up is not a contest. Rather, it is a rare combination that makes me uniquely talented in photographing life's big events and little moments.

p.s.

My sister wants me to tell you that I'm a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography located in Santa Barbara, CA.  From there, I went on to build my wedding and portrait business in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Currently, I'm finding my latest niche in the amazing state of New York!

Thank you for coming by.  I hope to hear from you soon!

Beth - I wish you had been doing senior sessions when my older children were seniors!

winter semi formal {photo party}

I’ve added a new “photo booth” service as an a la carte option for my 2010 clients.  It’s brand new service, so we thought we would try it out last weekend.  My niece invited her friends over to my house for a little pre-dance photo party, before they headed out for a great night at...

Way back in July, I photographed Lauren’s senior portrait session.  Here is a favorite from that shoot…
Lauren is so gorgeous and so much fun to photograph, that we went a little over the usual two hour session.  By the time, we got to the school to photograph her “track” portraits, the wind was blowing us...

Even though it is a holiday, I can’t wait another day to get this next group of photographs up.  I met Jamie earlier in the summer, when I photographed portraits of her and sister Maggie.  Thus, I had no worries going into her senior portrait session, because I already knew that Jamie was a wonderful...

:Della - Dude-luv it.

Jeremy - Wow, this is absolutely fantastic. I think pictures 16, 18 & 19 are my favorite, with Abby hiding behind her cello. ^_^ Love the ones taken around town too, gives it a character that you just wouldn't get in a normal studio photo shoot.

Cheri Carbaugh - I am so totally in love! I just watched Abby's slide show. I am so proud to be able to say that she is my niece! And to say that I've met the photographer! OK, I really have to get back to work now. But I can't wait until I have time to look at more of your work. Work? Art is a more apt description! Big Smiles, ~ Cheri

Another Happy Customer - Abby - what a beautiful way to start a Friday morning. Everything is just lovely - how nice to have a senior session that involves more than a few head shots. I'm totally impressed - you will always treasure these pictures - especially after many years. The best thing though is that photos like these will always bring back the look and the feelings no matter the time. Great job, Alice.

Abby - I absolutely love this slide show and I loved shooting with you! Thanks so much Alice! =]
