Alice G Patterson Photography {blog} bio picture

alice {girl vs. grown up}

By now, you have most likely concluded that I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer.  Here is what you probably don't know:

In addition to (or maybe instead of) my photographer persona, most of my neighbors recognize me as the lady being pulled around town by my three dogs (or as I like to call them "the girls").  Ironically, I still think of myself as a girl, but really I'm a grown woman.

In addition to being creative, running my business has lots of grown up responsibilities that I happily greet on a daily basis.  When I have a shoot, I arrive early, with back up equipment, a second photographer, and over fifteen years of experience.  But the minute I start taking pictures, I suddenly personify my absolute favorite part of the job... I become a girl with a camera.

The girl in me remains enthusiastic, creative, warm, and ever enchanted with sharing photographs.  The grown up is experienced, professional, and reliable.  So over the many years of being self-employed, I've learned that the whole girl vs. grown up is not a contest. Rather, it is a rare combination that makes me uniquely talented in photographing life's big events and little moments.

p.s.

My sister wants me to tell you that I'm a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography located in Santa Barbara, CA.  From there, I went on to build my wedding and portrait business in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Currently, I'm finding my latest niche in the amazing state of New York!

Thank you for coming by.  I hope to hear from you soon!

heart {no. 10}

I hope you are enjoying my 14 hearts countdown to Valentines Day.  Let’s face it though, sometimes we don’t always get what or who we want. What do you do when a heart is out of reach?

This photo is from a snapshots! session with my nephews Derek and Cooper… you guys are the best!  xoxo

Derek - Ha ha Cooper can't get it.

Mike - LOL that brings back memories. I remember jumping up trying to grab something out of my brother's hands. And worse yet was when he'd straight arm me while holding my head so I couldn't touch him.

Photographe Pour un Mariage - Sensation this is a good giveaway. I so necessitate this lol. What an enormous awareness you have provided here. I actually resemble it. Gratitude for this well-informed post

carrie + andy {slideshow}

Absolutely loving the new trend in stop motion messages. Carrie’s and Andy’s Valentines Day themed portrait session, gave me the perfect opportunity to give it a try for myself.
These two are so cute, and I couldn’t be happier with this fun little valentine message…

The creative possibilities for this type of fun stop motion message...

Last fall I went to see the film Julie & Julia, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  First off, I think Meryl Streep is the most amazing actress ever!  I saw her perform in a play at UCLA a few years back.  It was a very civilized audience, but I wanted to jump up and down like...
