alice {girl vs. grown up}

By now, you have most likely concluded that I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer.  Here is what you probably don't know:

In addition to (or maybe instead of) my photographer persona, most of my neighbors recognize me as the lady being pulled around town by my three dogs (or as I like to call them "the girls").  Ironically, I still think of myself as a girl, but really I'm a grown woman.

In addition to being creative, running my business has lots of grown up responsibilities that I happily greet on a daily basis.  When I have a shoot, I arrive early, with back up equipment, a second photographer, and over fifteen years of experience.  But the minute I start taking pictures, I suddenly personify my absolute favorite part of the job... I become a girl with a camera.

The girl in me remains enthusiastic, creative, warm, and ever enchanted with sharing photographs.  The grown up is experienced, professional, and reliable.  So over the many years of being self-employed, I've learned that the whole girl vs. grown up is not a contest. Rather, it is a rare combination that makes me uniquely talented in photographing life's big events and little moments.

p.s.

My sister wants me to tell you that I'm a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography located in Santa Barbara, CA.  From there, I went on to build my wedding and portrait business in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Currently, I'm finding my latest niche in the amazing state of New York!

Thank you for coming by.  I hope to hear from you soon!

steve depino {speaking at tuesday’s cny pug meeting}

No this isn’t a meeting about pugs…although everybody knows I love those little munchkins.  PUG stands for Pictage User Group a meeting for professional photographers.  Once a month, I host our Central New York PUG, and it’s always fun as well as infomative.
I’m so excited to announce the super-cool-one-and-only Steve DePino will be joining us...

Kyla Giles - Alice, Thank you sooo much for hosting such a wonderful evening! We truly enjoyed ourselves and you can bet that we were chattering away the whole ride home, full of new ideas and inspiration! Thanks for opening up your beautiful home to us and thanks to Justin & Mary for a phenomenal presentation. It was wonderful to meet and network with other fantastic area photographers. Oh, and I agree with Beth that the Spider Holster is way cool! Keep us updated on the next PUG meetings, if the weather cooperates we'd be happy to make the drive again!

Meghan Thomas - What an exciting night! I am so grateful for the work that you have done to get us, our own PUG! I love that we have so many talented professionals in our backyard and now we can actually utilize that! Thanks!!

Alice - Thank you so much!

Bob Kaussner - Hi Alice!, Just a short message to thank you once again for your excellent hospitality, and truly great first Central New York PUG meeting at your house Wednesday evening. Although I've been a Pictage Pro member of several years, I've been feeling disappointed not having a PUG in our area (the closest one being four hours away in NYC). Now I don't need to be disappointed anymore since the PUG meeting that you hosted and ran so beautifully was fabulous. I now look forward to continuing the tradition that you've begun of networking with other talented photographers and sharing the wealth of one-another's experience, vision, and common passion of photography. Thank you once again for a great first PUG meeting!

Marianne Miles - Thanks so-o much for hosting a great meeting! I enjoyed all the speakers - who were exceptional - and meeting the other photographers. I am back to work with a renewed spirit and belief in what I'm doing. Thanks again. See you next month- Marianne

Beth - Justin and Mary are awesome! Their presentation was very inspirational! Shai's spider holster is way cool! It seemed like everyone enjoyed the meeting :)

birds & bees {spring photography}

Spring is here.  With it’s arrival, comes lots of critter activities.
I’m in love with this little blackcap chickadee that is collecting dog hairs, off my back deck, for what is sure to be the most luxurious nest in the neighborhood.

Look at that cute little face!

Just before take off with the newly collected goods.  She keeps...

rainy day {blues}

Whether you are a small dog or trying to fly out of a large metropolitan airport (read JFK), rainy days can make you blue.  I was supposed to fly to Los Angeles today, but because of the very rainy weather, my flight kept getting delayed further and further into the evening.   So instead of spending...
