In fact, the session I’m posting today was a gift session. A few weeks ago, Brian hired me for this super fun dog/family portrait session as a special gift for Piper’s recent birthday… Happy Birthday again Piper!

This was not my typical pet family portrait session, because after we finished with these four all of Doc and Cooper’s doggy cousins came over too. That would be a total of five labs of all varieties as well as an adorable basset hound.

A few weeks back, Beth and I had a super fun day photographing some family portraits for Piper, Brian, Doc, and Cooper. This day was full of lots of doggy adventure… or should I say this adventure was full of lots of doggies! I’ll reveal more when I post the rest of the images. For now, I’ll just share a quick peek of this sweet portrait that caught my eye…

As I’ve been feverishly editing senior portraits, the end of summer, has caught me totally by surprise! I do apologize for being behind in my blog posting… I’m hoping it will be easy to forgive me, when you see the all the beautiful seniors that I’ve been photographing!

Meet Ashley… you may see her name in Broadway lights, after she pursues theater and performing arts in college. These next two photographs remind me of candid celebrity portraits taken on Hollywood film sets.

I think Ashley has an amazing iconic profile…

These days, no senior photo session seems complete without the ever present cell phone. It’s hard to imagine that these little gadgets will be obsolete someday… I can’t conceive what the next evolution will be. Ashley is sort of an old fashioned teen… she not only sends text to her friends, she also actually speaks to them too :) …

School is almost back in session. Hey seniors, don’t forget your Senior Portraits for your yearbook are due soon! Be sure to book your session now, so we can meet your school’s deadline. Here is one of the yearbook images, Ashley will get to choose from…

megan & lauren {family portraits}

Megan and Lauren’s mom (the ever so charming Joanne), first contacted me to schedule Lauren’s senior portrait. Before that, however, we had a secret portrait session of the two girls, as a birthday surprise for their dad. So now that Tom has received his birthday presents, I’m delighted to share some of my favorites. Happy Birthday Tom!

Beyond being beautiful, these two are smart, poised, and delightfully unpretentious!

Okay, I told you they were smart, and by the size of their text books, I’m guessing Megan and Lauren are pretty strong too. :)

Wait the magical talent list goes on… Like their dad, these two love nature, and enjoy canoeing. I love these next two images!

We headed down to the dock around sunset, and I got this adorable shot of the girls with their mom. Hi Joanne!

I make a big effort to create fresh images with fun poses and settings. Sometimes, however, I have to just absorb the beauty of a classic image… like this one on the dock. Nothing super fancy going on, but it’s definitely a keeper!

It is still cold, cold, cold here in New York; but it still feels like spring is coming, as most of the snow is melting away.

When I stepped out to run some errands, I got this strange feeling that I’m not the only one waiting for spring….

pay it forward pledge for 2009

Yesterday, I posted wedding photographs from Margaret and David’s beautiful event! Today, I want to share more information about their rescue and volunteer work with a very important organization called RAVS (Rural Aarea Veterinary Services), which is run by the Humane Society of the United States. This heroic group of professionals provide free spay/neuter clinics and basic veterinary care to our nation’s rural communities (mostly Indian Reservations), where many animals are unable to receive the medical care they need.

Poor Franny (the dog I adopted) was in bad shape when Margaret had first rescued her. She was malnourished, and suffering from a couple of life threatening diseases. Margaret literally saved Franny’s life!

In the spirit of holiday giving, I’m going to pledge 5 percent of my 2009 wedding sales to this cause. I hope you will consider joining me, and donating to RAV, as they are always in need of volunteers and financial support to help our country’s neediest animals!

Look at Franny now. She is healthy and very happy! She loves her new home, backyard, and is very gentle and playful with Lulu and Darla, my two smaller dogs.

kelly and bill {los angeles, ca}

Kelly and Bill eloped! So what would have originally been an engagement portrait session, became tagged as post-elopement portraits.

These two are so cute. They are so clearly in love (both with each other, as well as with their sweet dogs Violet and Vita). We had a great time photographing at their house, with their dogs, and finally at a great breakfast cafe. When we finished with the photos, we had a delicious brunch! Thanks for the great meal!
