moe + travis {carlsbad engagement}

While in California a few weeks ago, I was thrilled to get to meet and photograph Moe and Travis. I will be photographing their Central New York wedding this summer, and based on our time to together in CA, I can barely wait for their big day to arrive.

Moe and Travis have a very special relationship to say the least. After a chance meeting when Moe was visiting her cousin, these two went onto have long distance phone friendship for about a year. Travis finally came out for a weekend visit, and just a couple short years later here they are. It’s clear Moe and Travis love to spend time together, and from what I saw most of that time is spent laughing. I believe Moe and Travis’ love is infectious…

Of course, any clients that bring their dogs to a portrait session gets big points with me!

It is a small world!

Linda and Jon were looking for a bi-coastal photographer. When their internet search came up with me, they discovered that I had photographed one of Linda’s very good friend’s wedding. You see, Linda and Jon live in New Jersey, and next week they are tying the knot in Burbank. They wanted a bi-coastal photographer, because it was important for them to have an engagement session. First off, Linda and Jon understood the importance of getting to know their wedding photographer (smart… these two are very smart), and secondly they wanted to get great photos representing their east coast living. She says Yes! He says Yes! Look high and low, and you’ll have a hard time finding a couple more positive than Alli and Chris. In fact, they love the movie “Yes Man,” and do their very best to stay open and live life fully!

I had the pleasure of photographing Alli and Chris in Fairfax, Virginia, last fall. First stop during our session was at the Starbucks in their local grocery store. Whenever these cutie pies go shopping, you can often find Alli catching a ride on the cart while sipping their lattes…

The late afternoon light made for some beautiful portraits. This photo is a new favorite, as Alli and Chris look like a little ball of L-O-V-E…

They are like two peas in a pod…

This is one of my all time favorite engagement portraits. I love the ease in their strides and the smile Chris is sharing while Alli is talking…

The sun was going down fast, as was the temperature, but Alli and Chris helped keep each other warm…

sarah + seth {rochester engagement}

Fate can travel across continents and oceans, surprising us with love.

Seth’s life journey started in Ghana, and with a few twists and turns his work brought him to the Rochester area. Work, that is where it all began for these two. Along with Sarah’s beautiful green eyes, Seth also noticed she was a hard worker. As they got to know each other through after work gatherings, Seth learned that Sarah is honest, giving, intelligent, graceful, and full of charm. Here is a cute little photo of Erin, Matt, and their cats. Sushi is the darker orange cat, and that big boy walking out of the frame is her son d’Artagnan. I confess when Erin and Matt told me d’Artagnan’s name I knew it sounded familiar but it I didn’t recall what the name referenced… nor did I ask. It wasn’t until just now, when I googled it for spelling, that I rediscovered d’Artagnan was the “Fourth Musketeer.” How cute is that? The Four Musketeers…

ruth + jake engagements {part two}

If you saw yesterday’s entry, you know that Ruth and Jake have a fierce sense of fashion. What you will see today, is that they also have a very fun playful love! The youthful props in these photos stemmed from the idea of Jake’s proposal. You see Jake has a young son (hi Zach… can’t wait to meet you!), and the two of them proposed to Ruth together… with a toy ring! Is that the cutest thing you’ve ever heard? Well, Zach and the toy ring couldn’t be with us for the engagement session so we made do with blue balloons, candy rings, and lollipops…

If any of you kids don’t want to see romance, cover your eyes now!No, I didn’t rent a helicopter for this shoot, but I was about 30 feet up in the air, in the bird watching blind. It’s amazing how I forget about my fear of heights (or more like my fear of falling) when I have a camera and a beautiful couple in front of me!

I heart U, was Jake’s candy message to Ruth. Oh and that ring in the gumball machine is the REAL engagement ring. Gorgeous…

I’m pretty sure by the looks of this next photo that Ruth hearts you right back Jake…Now that is a candy ring!These next few shots are just more adorable meadow plus love goodness…This parting shot makes me think of Shrek (which I’m dying to see by the way). You know, the land of far, far away and happily ever after… minus the ogres and a talking donkey of course.

ruth + jake’s engagement portraits {part one}

My sister Beth and I have been on an engagement portrait session whirlwind; and I’ve got so many great sessions to post! For starters here is part one of Ruth and Jake’s engagement portrait session. Although Ruth and Jake live in Illinois, they had planned to get married in a meadow on her father’s property in Cato, NY. Eventually the location for the wedding changed, so we decided it would be perfect to photograph Ruth and Jake in the meadows, while they were visiting a few weeks ago.

A very special element, to this session, is that all of the antiques had belonged to Ruth’s grandmother. She was a military nurse, and had great taste in furnishings. When we pulled out this mirror, I knew we had to hang it on a tree! I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do…

jill + steve {engaged}

Even though Jill was born and raised in NYC, she has a deep appreciation for nature, as does Steve. In fact, these two have a very long list of common interest including boating, hockey, hiking, dogs (yay!), and so much more. When planning Jill and Steve’s engagement portrait session, Moravia, NY (where they will soon be calling their home as married people) seemed like the perfect location! Even though this first shot is of Jill’s engagement ring, I think it says a lot about the beauty of their love and nature…

I’m pretty sure I was actually squealing when I was taking this next picture!

You know how much I love dogs, so I had to include this family photo…

It’s great when client’s trust my vision and are game for anything… like venturing out to the middle of a creek. Don’t you just love Jill’s cute polka dot Wellies?

Oh Moravia… what a wonderful place…

Yep, I’m totally jealous. Jill and Steve have got a little lakeside dock and neighbors that drive by in boats.

If all that charm wasn’t enough, just five minutes away is this amazing waterfall with hiking trails all around.

Up next is just a simple little shot, but I love it so much!

Thank you so much for the incredibly fun and beautiful afternoon in Moravia! Maybe someday I’ll be one of those neighbors cruising by on a boat. What? A girl can dream can’t she? xoxo
